An important reason to run

12 year old Tyler Lindberg will be participating in his first ever 12km fun run in the upcoming Busselton Chevron City to Surf on Sunday July 29, all whilst raising viatal funds for the Foundation!

Tyler has also been playing football whilst training for the City to Surf

Tyler, has a special reason for choosing to support the foundation and is doing this all for his younger brother, Ryder (pictured centre, with Tyler)

Ryder, who is 9 years old, has a rare genetic condition known as Optiz G/BBB Syndrome which causes abnormalities along the mid-line of the body. Born with a range of complications including, hypotyloidism,  VDS (Ventricular Septal Defct) and a larrangeal cleft, Ryder is non-verbal and is fed through PEG (Percutaneous edoscopic gastromy).

To assist with communication Ryder regulary visits his speech pathologist and uses an iPad to communicate. Under constant review, Ryder’s condition means he also suffers a range of mobility and digestive issues as well as complications with his eyesight and kidney’s.

All this aside, Ryder keeps very active by swimming and is part of the summer Little Athletics Adapted Program. He enjoys listening to music, watching Star Wars and anything that spins such as his toy helicopter.  He also loves his electric train tracks and his collection of teddies that he has accumulated over the time he has spent in and out of hospital.

Tyler’s Mother Asher, is very proud of him participating in the event and says,

It’s so lovely Tyler is doing this for his brother because the cause is so close to our family’s heart, having spent so much time in PMH

To assist with his training for his first City to Surf, Tyler keeps fit by not only running three times a week, but also playing both football and basketball on a weekly basis! The day will be even more special as Tyler takes part in the event on his 13th birthday!

Tyler has already raised over $450 and every dollar raised will help kids like his brother Ryder.
