Big W’s support and dedication for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation was on display as they celebrated reaching the million dollar…
The annual Bakers Delight Bundraiser is coming up on Saturday 12 March. $1 from every six-pack of hot cross buns sold on this day will be donated to Princess Margaret Hospital so be sure to buy a pack (or three!)
This year Bakers Delight are aiming to raise $30,000, which means 180,000 hot cross buns! Raising $30,000 this year will bring the total raised by Bundraiser over the years to $300,000 – that’s a lot of reasons to buy your hot cross buns on Saturday 12 March!
This year’s funds raised will support kids like our ambassador Logan, pictured above with baker Damon from Bakers Delight Warwick. Logan has Type 1 Diabetes and this year’s Bundraiser funds are going towards two research projects within the Diabetes and Endocrinology Departments at Princess Margaret Hospital that aim to discover better ways to treat children like Logan.
One of the studies is about improving self-management for children and young people with diabetes. The other is around developing a protocol to measure a child’s vitamin D levels through a saliva sample as opposed to through a blood sample. Many children find giving a blood sample stressful so being able to take a simple and non-invasive saliva sample would make the process less frightening for children, while also being quicker and easier.
Denys Pearce, PMH Foundation CEO explains,
“Our partnership with Bakers Delight is so important to the thousands of children who visit Princess Margaret Hospital each year. To date, Bundraiser has provided over $277,000 thanks to the generosity of Bakers Delight and their customers. These funds have enabled PMH Foundation to provide much needed equipment and support several key research projects.”
We hope you can support Bundraiser this year and help PMH develop better treatments for children like Logan.
