Do you hate waiting for answers? Could you live with a sense of suspense every day? 500,000 Australian children live…
“You have not lived if you have not been to the Great Wall.”
With this old Chinese saying in mind, Loren Chinnery signed up to complete a five-day challenge trek along the Great Wall of China while fundraising for PMH Foundation.
“I’m so inspired by the work PMH Foundation does, so getting to experience one of the New Seven Wonders of the World while fundraising for a charity I really care about was an amazing opportunity,” explains Loren.
“I believe that all children deserve a happy and healthy life and I wanted to take up this challenge to raise funds to ensure that children and their families were supported during difficult times.”
The China Great Wall Trek for charity is a fantastic five day hike along the incredible man-made structure. The challenge took Loren over watch towers and mountains, through historic battlement stations that were all well off the tourist trail. A day was also spent repairing a section of the wall that is currently being reconstructed.
As amazing as it was, the challenge was definitely tiring! Loren found the trekking tough due to the amount of steps she had to trek up and down each day – it sometimes took an hour to trek just one kilometre on the Wall!
Nevertheless, Loren persevered and said that it was one of the most memorable experiences of her life.
As well as experiencing a once in a lifetime adventure and personal challenge, Loren also managed to raise over $3000 for Princess Margaret Hospital as she sought sponsorships and donations from colleagues, friends and family.
We here at PMH Foundation would like to thank Loren for her support and we congratulate her on her amazing achievement!
